This is an unusual shadowbox model of a privateer chasing a pirate vessel. The privateer is carved with wooden sails and is set on a rolling painted ocean. The pirate ship is to the right in the painted background and flies a skull and crossbones flag. Both vessels are 2-masted brigs. There are a number of birds in the painting. 25 in. x 34 14 in. 19th C.
