14414,2 Watercolor of New Bedford Dockyard Scene by Newell
This charming watercolor on paper by Robert R. Newell depicts a whimsical waterfront scene in New Bedford during the whaling period. There is much street activity in front of the dock at which two whaleships are tied up. Seamen are being recruited and in addition to hotels and boarding houses, there is a brothel with ladies at the windows seen enticing potential clients. 11 1/2 in. x 19 1/4 in., sight. SignedR.R.
