14412 Antique Scrimshaw Tooth with Ship and Liberty Girl
Scrimshaw tooth engraved on the obverse with a ship flying an American flag approaching a lighthouse with schooner or pilot boat between them. On the reverse is a figure of a girl attired in a dress of a striped skirt and blouse with stars, resembling an American flag. There is an eagle with a vine wreath in its beak forming a halo above her and she is holding an American flag with a liberty cap on the pole. Polychrome. 6 1/4 in. long. ca 1840’s. There is a chip on the tip of the reverse side.
