Explosive harpoon made for the extremely rare swivel whaling gun patented by Henry W. Mason and Patrick Cunningham of New Bedford on December 12, 1882 for their bow-mounted whaling gun. When used, a fuse would have ignited the black powder within the magazine. 33 1/2 in. long. Excellent condition with a split in the shaft which was a manufacturing defect but did not affect the use of the piece. Another scarce item.
