14477 This is the original 1869 Historical Map of Nantucket, Surveyed and Drawn by the Rev. F.C. Ewer. Published by The Major & Knapp, Eng. Mfg. & Lith. Co., 71 Broadway, N.Y. It contains a list of historical data through 1865 and shows important recordings of old roads, Indian place-names and Proprietors' set-offs. There have been a number of later editions of this map, but this is assuredly the scarcest and most desirable iteration. A subsequent issue bears the date 1869 but contains additional historical data to 1886, which is very misleading.

Laid down and archivally restored with repair to tears not affecting image or text. Scattered toning. Very attractive in original frame. 27 1/4 in. x 42 1/2 in., sight; 30 3/4 in., x 46 1/2. in., overall.
