Antique scrimshaw whalebone busk engraved with 4 lines of verse framed in a box in the center, flanked by a full rigged ship on each rounded end. Reverse is faintly inscribed, "For her Hannah Sivan" and "Remember Me". A 4 in. long crack at the right end has been repaired. 13 5/8 in. long. Mid 19th C.

The Verse:

"Here take this as a token of friendship from me

And remember the lad that plowd the rough sea

Remember the sailor that stood the hard gale

And pity the lad that cruised for Right Whale”
