The wooden cylinder of this rolling pin is made of alternating sections of mahogany and rosewood and tapers to both ends where there are nicely turned whale ivory knobs with red wax inlaid scribe lines.  19th C.  13 1/4 in. oa. length. Ex collection Norman Flayderman, bearing his collection ID NH308 in typical white ink, and illustrated on page 191 in his book, Scrimshaw and Scrimshanders Whales and Whalemen. Excellent condition with very nice patina.
